ISIG - INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL SOCIOLOGY GORIZIA
ISIG is a research center created in 1968 to couple rigorous scientific activity in Social Sciences with engagement in international cooperation. During its years of activity it has become an internationally recognized centre of research on local, national and international issues. ISIG has received the status of special consultant to the ECOSOC. Some of its research areas are:
a) international relations and transfrontier co-operation;
b) ethnic relations and minorities;
c) peace and conflict resolution;
d) society and social policy;
e) economics and local development;
f) democracy and civil society;
g) the environment and environmental risk assessment.
ISIG has a focus on participatory processes, with several projects aiming at empowering and improving active participation of citizens in democratic process. Examples are the MySchool project (2014), and the SUPREME project (2013 – 2014).
